Jesse Owens may have meant to say "All American Grove". The grove was reserved for All American football players, although other famous trees had been planted near the grove. This area was located south of the varsity tennis courts (B) as seen in this 1947 photograph. Several construction projects (A) may have involved relocating some of the trees from the surrounding area. Eventually, the entire area was replaced by parking lots.

It has been suggested Jesse Owens' tree was relocated
This 1948 photo shows a tree in the rumored location supporting the tree wastransplanted from its original site. Bob Gill, a 1971 OSU graduate, recalls the tree being pointed out on his 1964 freshman orientation. Bob's orientation guide added the tree had been relocated from the "Buckeye Grove" (once a part of "All American Grove").(1947 site inventory)
